- 2- The structure of writing the paper:
- In the beginning of story (1 paragraph), make sure to clearly identify the main character(s). You can tell this story from a “first-person†perspective (“I/Weâ€) or from a “third-person†(“He/She/Theyâ€) perspective. Please provide the following (in any order):
- Give the main character(s) a name (Who is this?).
- State at least three characteristics or qualities of the main character(s) in the story (what about them?).
- Identify the setting (where AND when is the story taking place?).
- In the middle of the story (3-4 paragraphs), please provide the following:
- Initiating Event(s) in the story. (What happened to the main character(s)?)
- Internal Response(s) to the event in the story. This may be a goal, plan, thought, and/or feeling (What did the main character(s) think about the event?)
- External Response(s) to the event in the story. This may be an action to reach a goal, carry out a plan, remedy a crisis, or resolve a state of emotional uncertainty. (What did the main character(s) do in response to the event?)
- Consequence(s) in the story. A happening caused by the main character(s) External Response in the story. (After the main character(s) acted, what happened?)
- In the ending of the story (1 paragraph), please provide the following:
- Resolution in the story. The event is somehow resolved and there is closure, whether it ends positively or negatively. (How did it all end?)
- Moral of the story. The overall message or lesson learned from the story. (What is the main take-away?)
